Mila McLaughlin
Violin
Mila McLaughlin began her musical studies at age 6 with the piano, and age 7 with the violin.
Mrs. McLaughlin studied for eight years in L’viv, Ukraine, where she obtained artistic diplomas in violin instruction and orchestral performance. She continued her music studies at the Glinka College in Minsk, Belarus, and earned a Master’s Degree in violin instruction. During this period, Mrs. McLaughlin also played for three years in the Chamber Orchestra in Gomel, Belarus.
Mrs. McLaughlin has been teaching violin for over 30 years. Among the children and young adults she’s taught are numerous winners of local and national competitions in the former Soviet Union. Many furthered their studies to become professional performing musicians.
Mrs. McLaughlin came to the United States in 1998. She taught violin in her private studio and at Mitch’s Music School in Upland, CA, before relocationg to the Philadelphia area in 2005. She joined MLMA in 2006.
Mrs. McLaughlin is also a professionally trained pianist. In addition to teaching violin technique, she enjoys introducing her students to the basics of musical theory and the history of music, which cultivates a love for music from an early age.
